Poco Farm Kick Off

we kicked off the Mad Farmer Tour with a heartfelt celebration honoring our very own Mad Farmer, Grace Malloy. Designed as the culminating moment of our brand and sales unity session, the event brought together both our internal team and the greater Ojai community to ignite excitement and shared purpose for the journey ahead. A moving land dedication by Chumash elder Julie Tumamait-Stenslie grounded the day in local heritage, while the irresistible aroma of pizzas crafted by Darrel Smith lingered in the air. Local musician Beau Red set the tone with a soundtrack that echoed across the farm as the sun dipped low. It was a beautiful, energizing start to the tour—rooted in the Founder’s Intent

The Urban Farm Spring Fling

We brought the Mad Farmer energy to the heart of Denver with a special stop at the Urban Farm! Families and farm-lovers of all ages joined us for a day packed with springtime fun. Guests explored the farm on an Egg Hunt, searching designated areas for colorful eggs to turn in for free prizes. The day got even sweeter with a Bunny Meet and Greet, where kids (and kids at heart) snapped photos with our friendly rabbit pals. Excitement grew as we introduced our adorable new lambs, bringing smiles and plenty of "awws" from the crowd. To keep everyone refreshed, we poured up delicious Tractor Beverages throughout the day.

Black Cat Farms

In partnership with Mad Ag, the Mad Farmer Tour stopped by to hang out with Michelin Green Star award winning chef, Eric Skokan, at his farm to table concept, Black Cat Farms. Just north of Boulder, Tractor employees and families joined up with Mad Ag executive suite members, local journalists, and friends of the brand to get their hands dirty planting raspberries and strawberries. Our very own Brittany Hardcastle, along with her husband and their daughter, Lacy, kept the vibes high with live music during a 2.5 hour happy hour that, well, extended a bit late! Post event, conversation in the barn were filled with shared passions and exciting opportunities with Mad Ag and their partners in the future.

Jardín de las Rosas

On Saturday May 10th we made our way over to the westside of Chicago to the Jardin de las Rosas in Humboldt Park. In partnership with our Co Op member and local hero ,Jahmal Cole, we identified two women that have lifted their community by bringing in an “urban garden” and we granted each $5,000.

Jardin de las Rosas is a community garden that used to be a vacant lot and a hub for crime. Patty Carillo and her husband Hugo had enough and took the lot over. The garden has transformed the makeup of the block and now acts as the community hub, growing veggies, flowers and seasonal fruits. We also invited in Diane Hodges, a community gardener from the southside who did the same thing with her garden, Paradise on Merrill. The final piece of the activation was a partnership with the Urban Grower’s Collective to pay for the groceries in the neighborhood through a co branded voucher system. A truly special day!

Turner Organic Farm

We made a stop at Turner Organic Farm to spend some time with their team and learn more about what it takes to run an Organic Farm, while showing people what is possible. Turner Farm is located right outside of Cincinnati and is a community hub that not only grows organic, they have a farm store that is open daily, and a teaching kitchen where they showcase and educate how to work with nutritious ingredients. In addition to growing organic produce, they have a livestock team that is supporting the soil health by implementing rotational grazing and producing responsibly raised meat and poultry.

The man that runs the farm, Robert Edmisson, is also a major community connector and helped us identify key areas where we can show up to reach the greater Cincinnati community. We finished off the day by hosting a farm dinner with the Turner Farm team, where we connected and shared the Haymaker story.

Share Market at Root Cause Farm

Pulled up to Root Causes Share Market in Fairview NC. This is a free farmers market, serving their community by providing fresh whole foods to families experiencing food insecurity. Farmer, Jon McNair, took time to share with us that the farm is based solely on volunteers and himself - producing vegetables and fruits for their community. Since Hurricane Helene devastated the Asheville area of North Carolina, local towns are still working to recover. Root Cause is making sure no one goes hungry - because food is a fundamental human right.

As we set up, cars piled into the grassy lot and a line formed. A bell was rang and people went one by one to receive their share of food for the week.

To supplement produce on the off seasons, they pair with an organization saving food from going to waste at super markets.

Since the Hurricane many communities have been left with contaminated water, therefore they paired with a non-profit to provide free at home water test kits.

In addition to the Share Markets efforts, fellow community members brought baked goods and tasty treats to share. Kids ran around playing on the grounds as parents caught up with one another. Root Cause has created much more than just a farm but a third space for people to connect.

Community members shared with us their stories during Helene and how it has impacted their homes, livelihoods, and family members.

We were there with open arms and ears to provide them a sense of normalcy, leaving with drinks in hands and seeds in pockets!

With honor of the safe environment that Root Cause has created no images of the community members were captured but purely the volunteers and the land.

No Taste Like Home

A note from our Drivers: "Food is grown a lot more spaces than just contained and monitored plots of land but in the wild. With No Taste Like Home, Elliot and I set off on a Foraging Tour to explore what Asheville has to offer!

The group consisted of people of all walks of life, we were each given a basket and a mission to nibble responsibly on plants and trees alike. Kat and Steven guided us through the woods pointing out different edible plants as we went. We each got to collect a different edible, gathering it into our basket awaiting cooking time!

We took time acknowledging poisoning ivy, making participants aware of its hairy vine and leaves of three. Kat explained that poison ivy is usually only found where wild meets disturbed and is there to protect the wild from human activity. Many of the plants meanings and properties are derived from elders and indigenous folk. Much like growing organic and sustainably our practices go back to the roots.

Winding down on the tour we poured out our baskets onto a table and took inventory of our findings! Kat began the camp stove to make us a stir fry. We all discussed our favorite flavor (and our least lol).

No Taste Like Home is a reminder to look at what you already have and how we can utilize it. There are flavors all around us! We left with full belly’s and their team left with Tractor bevvies"

Tryon Equestrian Center

What a fun weekend to celebrate one of our pour partners. The trailer was set up at the front entrance, perfect stop to grab a cold drink in between horse shows. We watched as horses walked past us and families came to cool off by the quad.

Directed lots of people into the general store for a “snow-plow”.

The second day was Saturday Night Lights, equipped with fellow vendors, pony rides, and music. Had many riders bringing drinks back to the barn for more to enjoy!
